Two Levels of Living
A full lower level designed to live as its own home when you want it to.
The renovation added a complete second level of living below the main floor-its own kitchen and bathroom built in where there had been none, with proper egress added and permitted throughout. What had been a dark basement of red and green wood paneling is now a bright, fully finished living level.
At its heart is a generous suite that mirrors the footprint above it, including a second fireplace stacked on the same chimney as the main-floor hearth. A smaller, more European-scaled kitchen anchors the space, finished with restored original cabinet hardware so even the newest room carries the home's 1953 character. Like the main kitchen, it is fitted with premium appliances from Thermador, KitchenAid, and Bosch, and the level has its own full bathroom and laundry.
The level is built for flexibility. At roughly 900 square feet, the apartment can stay open as everyday living space, or be locked off from the main house and entered from the back-used independently or as additional quarters. Alongside it is a separate flexible room with a mini bar, and the main lower-level rooms are served by egress windows. The level holds temperature comfortably on its own, warmed by the home's systems, and was pre-wired for additional mini-splits should a future owner ever want them.
