An architect's original direction remains with the property.
Written instructions to the contractor dated April 24, 1951 document Joe Lort Jr.'s role in the design. Those instructions were prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Elvin Caldwell and remain an important part of the home's record.
The house was completed in 1953. Its horizontal emphasis, generous windows, strong indoor-outdoor relationship, and material choices place it firmly in Denver's mid-century modern story. No historic designation is claimed.
The restoration

Renovation focused on continuity. Walnut tones, period-informed tile, clean lines, and restored details reinforce the original language while updated kitchens, baths, mechanical systems, and landscaping support daily life.
The result is neither a museum nor a generic remodel. It is a living house whose history remains legible, with flexible space and modern function layered carefully into the original design.
